A futuristic world where each mission could be your last... That's the promise of Marathon, the upcoming major project from Bungie, the studio behind the Halo and Destiny series, published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. After a delay caused by mixed feedback during testing in 2025, the game is now officially slated for release on March 5, 2026. It will launch simultaneously on Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series, offering cross-play so players can battle it out together regardless of platform. During a PlayStation State of Play, the game was also teased with a brand-new trailer!
Marathon offers a fresh take on the classic FPS genre. In this game, you play as a Runner—a cybernetic character dispatched to an abandoned planet, Tau Ceti IV, to gather resources and fight for survival. It’s more than just a shooter: it’s a race against the clock and your rivals. Each match pits multiple teams against each other as they explore the map, gather loot, and race to reach the extraction zone before being eliminated.
