Independent studio Sunnyside Games is continuing its action-platformer series with Nocturnal 2, due out on PC on November 10, 2026. The sequel builds on the idea of a flaming weapon used to fight and interact with the environment, in a 2D adventure centered on exploring a forgotten city.
The promotional images show old buildings, dark passageways and various enemies. The art direction is based on hand-drawn environments, while the combat uses two-dimensional animations.
The protagonist’s sword produces flames that come into play both in combat and in certain interactions with the environment.
The adventure takes the player to an abandoned city, whose ruins conceal the events that led to its disappearance. Exploring gradually unlocks new areas and reveals more about its history.
The game adopts a metroidvania structure, with interconnected areas and passages that become accessible as you progress.
Movement is built around platforming sequences, while combat requires mastering the character’s attacks and abilities. Fire remains an important part of the game’s mechanics.
The PC version is listed on Steam, with a French interface and subtitles. The game will be playable solo and will support controllers.
Steam achievements and cloud saves are also planned. This new game will bring the franchise back in a format that gives players more room to explore freely.
