For three days, luxury opens its doors a little wider. From October 16–18, 2026, the public can tour workshops, historic houses and other venues where craft skills are practiced away from the spotlight—free of charge. That’s the essence of the Journées Particulières, launched in 2011 by the LVMH group, and back this year for a sixth edition under the theme At the Roots of the Dream. In total, 46 Maisons participate across 69 sites in 12 countries. This time, the gestes, materials and savoir-faire take center stage.
At Louis Vuitton, the journey this time leads to Asnières-sur-Seine (92), where a large portion of the House's history was written. Cramped in its Paris premises, Louis Vuitton bought in 1859 a plot proche de la Seine et du chemin de fer to set up its new workshop. The bois de peuplier needed for the suitcases could then arrive by river, while Saint-Lazare station wasn't far away. The site also became the demeure de la famille Vuitton and remains, more than 160 years later, one of the brand's anchors.
In the historic workshops of Asnières, still in operation, saddlers, cabinetmakers, leatherworkers and locksmiths work side by side on rigid cases, on creations in rare and exotic leathers, and on custom orders. Visitors can watch the craft in action, from the woodworking of the wooden stave to the fitting and riveting of metal elements. The tour also includes the family house, redesigned at the end of the 19th century in the spirit of Art Nouveau, with stained glass, wall decorations and period furniture.
