We remember that the announcement caused quite a buzz in August 2024: Tang Frères, the iconic brand of Asian cuisine in Paris, confirmed its very first location in the Hauts-de-Seine department. Patrick Chaimovitch, the mayor of Colombes, personally verified the news with actu Paris, indicating that the site would include a depot, a wholesale section, and a retail space. At the time, the opening was scheduled for fall 2024, allowing for a few renovations to be carried out in the building purchased by Tang Frères from its previous owner.
But autumn 2024 came and went, followed by winter and spring 2025, without any progress. When asked about the store on social media in 2025, the company pushed back the deadline: "Our Colombes store is currently under renovation. We're aiming for a reopening by the end of 2025 at the earliest, but this could change." Now it's February 2026, and there’s still no sign of an opening in sight. On the ground, the metal shutters remain down, the fencing is untouched, and not a single sign of construction in progress is visible.
Local residents are starting to grow impatient and remain skeptical. Will the exotic goods store ever actually open its doors? The anticipation is all the more intense since Tang Frères currently has no location in western Île-de-France. Up to now, its stores have mainly been found in the southeast of Paris, in Seine-Saint-Denis, Val-de-Marne, and Seine-et-Marne, along with the historic outlet in the 13th arrondissement, at 48 Avenue d'Ivry. The one in Herblay is making steady progress, with the symbolic first stone laid and the opening scheduled for June.
As a quick reminder, founded in 1976 by the Tang brothers—refugees of Laotian and Chinese descent—this brand started out as a small grocery shop before growing into one of Europe’s largest importers and distributors of Asian products. At Tang Frères, you'll find an extensive selection of Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean goods: from exotic fruits and vegetables, noodles, rice, and sauces, to frozen ravioli and mochi, as well as spring rolls, fish, seafood, snacks, and beverages ranging from green tea to sake. The store also offers kitchen utensils and even Korean and Japanese cosmetics.
Officially, Tang Frères states that construction is still underway. In short, there’s no confirmed opening date yet for this Asian supermarket in Colombes. We’ll be sure to update this article as soon as we have more information. In the meantime, fans of Asian products in the western Paris area will have to wait a little longer or visit other stores within the chain, whose locations can be found on the official Tang Frères website. Stay tuned for developments.
