Paris is home to no shortage of great perfume houses. Diptyque carefully cultivates a world that brings fragrance and the art of living together, while Officine Universelle Buly brings apothecary rituals back into fashion. Fragonard, meanwhile, adds a healthy dose of color to the mix. At 5 rue Boudreau, just steps from the Opéra Garnier, the Grasse-based house has gone big with its Haussmann store: 300 m² spread across two floors, where perfumes and cosmetics sit alongside fashion, home décor, accessories and the art of living.
Conceived as a concept store, the shop shows above all that Fragonard is about more than perfume. It occupies the ground floor of a historic building whose façade retains its original woodwork. Inside, shelves, display tables and trunks shape a bright space, while bold colors and prints tie the different collections together. The whole place has a sunny, southern feel: Paris outside, a little taste of Provence inside.
Of course, you come here to browse this company’s perfumes, eau de toilette, soaps and cosmetics, founded in Grasse in 1926. But Boudreau quickly broadens the range to include fashion, accessories, home décor, household goods and gift ideas. Enough to tempt someone who came in just to pick up a bottle into leaving with a bag, a textile or a decorative piece.
Just a few steps away, the Musée du Parfum on rue Scribe rounds out the visit by telling the story of perfumery and showcasing its craftsmanship. Its shop, focused more on fragrance collections, naturally extends the museum experience. On rue Boudreau, by contrast, Fragonard reveals every facet of the house under one roof.
At Fragonard Haussmann, perfume is just a starting point: the visit goes far beyond the bottle.
