Jean Paul Gaultier in Paris: a free sensory perfume experience lands in the Marais

Jean Paul Gaultier isn’t just bottling Paris; he’s giving it top billing. From October 1–3, 2026, Lafayette Anticipations hosts a free immersive sensory experience around La Favorite, the maison’s new women’s fragrance. A tobacconist and newsstand, a Parisian street, a florist, a glove-maker, a chocolatier and a nightclub: the fragrance takes shape through a guided walk to discover from 3:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., no reservation required.

First stop at the Tabac Presse La Favorite. Behind the newspapers, lighters, keychains, scratch cards and Flêcher Magazine shed their counter‑shop vibe for that of small collectible talismans. Some will be available for sale only during the event.

The suite moves along a Parisian street inspired by the Junior Gaultier shop’s furnishings on Rue du Jour, imagined in the late 1980s by Jean Paul Gaultier and Francis Menuge. Three addresses follow one another: the florist, the glovemaker, and the chocolatier. Each embodies a facet of the fragrance through its notes of Queen of the Night, benzoin, and tonka bean.
Here, the perfume is discovered as much with the nose as with the eyes. The scents step out of the olfactory narrative to take display in the window, brushing against objects and the different worlds of the journey.

Then comes the moment to step out. Behind a Morris column, the JPG Club takes over. Conceived by Sophie Dries around her Bar Octa, the space combines a disco ball, mirrors, lamps and furniture, with nods to Art Deco and the Parisian nights of the 1980s. An ambiance tailor-made for Gaultier: graphic, sensual and a touch irreverent. At the bar, the three faces of La Favorite unfold into cocktails. After the kiosk, the street and the shop windows, the scent thus ends its night at the counter. Naturally.
