Contemporary art lovers, head to the Salon d'Automne from October 29 to November 2, 2025 for a historic event. In existence since 1903, the Salon d'Automne has given rise to artistic movements and major figures in contemporary art, such as Matisse and Guimard. Originally held on the Champs-Elysées, it recently moved from La Villette to the avenue, in ephemeral pavilions on the Place de la Concorde.
For 5 days, nearly 1,000 astonishing works will be brought together over 4,000 m2 to represent art in all its diversity and originality, and discover even more incredible artists, around the theme of sharing the ocean, with sailor Louis Burton as patron. A thematic trail will showcase creations by artists committed to the theme of the sea and ecology.
Since the beginning of the 20th century, the Salon d'Automne has sought to offer a fresh look at the way art is created, according to the different eras, and in opposition to traditional art. It has thus been a privileged witness to the avant-garde movements of Fauvism, Surrealism and Cubism. Rooted in this prestigious past, the show continues today to bring together artists from all over the world, of almost 50 different nationalities, as well as some 30,000 curious visitors.
No hierarchy is established between the different arts, to enable them to be exhibited with equal freedom, in 11 artistic sections: painting, sculpture, architecture, printmaking, drawing, photography, environmental art, digital art, artists' books, unknown worlds and myths & singularity, with a painting section made up of 9 groups: Abstraction, Naive Art, Chromatics, Free Expression, Figuration, Heritage and Innovation, Imaginary, Synthesis, Variations.
