TF1 renews its partnership with World Rugby: the television group has once again acquired all the broadcasting rights for the 2023 Rugby World Cup.

Rugby fans are looking forward to September 2023: it's not every day that a World Cup takes place in our country! However, to our dismay, it is not possible to watch all the matches live from the stadium: that's why the battle to acquire the broadcasting rights of the Rugby World Cup matches is always tough.

This Friday, September 3, 2021, the TF1 group announced that it had obtained all the rights, after renewing its partnership with World Rugby. In a press release relayed by LCI, a subsidiary of the French group, TF1 CEO Gilles Pélisson said: " We are pleased to offer French viewers free-to-air coverage of these great events. This partnership is the fruit of our commitment to rugby, whose values we are proud to spread to a very wide audience, with a very promising French team. "

TF1 was able to win back the rights to the 2023 Men's Rugby World Cup, as well as those of the upcoming Women's Cup. This competition is often more ignored by fans, but TF1 reaffirms its desire to highlight women's sports. " We are also very happy to offer a very eventful exposure to the next Women's Rugby World Cup and thus confirm our commitment to women's sports ," adds Gilles Pélisson.

This announcement comes as no surprise: since 1991, TF1 has always been able to broadcast Rugby World Cup matches on its channel, with the exception of the 2003 tournament, when France Télévisions managed to buy the exclusive broadcasting rights.

France is now looking forward to seeing the French team play on its soil. The first match will oppose us to the All Blacks: this meeting promises us a great show!
