We don't say it often enough, but Paris has a wealth of good ideas for getting out and about without necessarily spending money and putting a hole in your wallet. If you fancy a swim, or if you'd like your kids to take advantage of a free pool during the hot summer months, in addition to the famous basins of La Villette that everyone knows by now, there are a number of free swimming spots in and around Paris this summer.
We're heading for the 20th arrondissement, to the Centre sportif Louis Lumière at 30 rue Louis Lumière, to discover the free pool that's been opening every year since 2019 from now on, to the delight of the arrondissement's children. The pool is just a few steps from the Porte de Bagnolet metro station and the Marie de Miribel tramway.
Opening hours are Monday to Saturday , 10am to 9pm, and Sundays and public holidays, 10am to 6pm , from July 5 to August 31, 2025. The Centre sportif Louis Lumière offers a wide range of free sports activities open to all, with no registration required: aqua aerobics, athletics, badminton, baseball, beach volleyball, senior gentle gym, handball, hip hop, senior taekwondo, zumba...
