The hunt for gold is officially underway in Milan-Cortina. Following the success of the Summer Olympics, all eyes are now on our French athletes tackling snow and ice in Italy. How many titles in biathlon? Will there be surprises on the alpine ski slopes? Stay with us as we track the French medal tally day by day and keep you updated on the latest results in this 2026 edition.

For this 25th edition of the Winter Olympics, the French team arrives with high ambitions and a strong squad of 160 athletes competing across nearly all disciplines. Led by their top contenders in biathlon, the French athletes aim to top the medal standings. Their goal is straightforward: match, if not surpass, the historic achievements of previous editions, taking advantage of Italy's close proximity to feel "almost" like being at home.

To gauge the significance of the challenge, a quick look in the rearview mirror is revealing. At the last Winter Games in Beijing in 2022, France finished with a commendable tally of 14 medals (5 gold, 7 silver, and 2 bronze), highlighted by a historic performance from Quentin Fillon Maillet. The record remains held by Sochi (2014) and Pyeongchang (2018), with 15 medals. The big question this time is whether our athletes can finally break through that glass ceiling of 15 medals, all on European soil.
