In May, music also takes center stage in Paris and elsewhere in the Île-de-France region. The spring season is the perfect time for national and international artists to warm up in concert halls before touring the various summer festivals. As always, all musical styles are represented: from French variety to rock, from K-pop to metal, from electro to rap and R&B, from classical music to blues & jazz... Eclecticism is the order of the day, to satisfy the tastes and desires of as many people as possible.
And to welcome these diverse styles, championed with vigor and passion by numerous artists, concert and performance venues are plentiful in Paris and the Île-de-France region. There are, of course, the big arenas such as Paris La Défense Arena, located in Hauts-de-Seine, and Paris Bercy, a legendary hall tucked in the eastern part of the city. Other venues also shine a spotlight on live music. This is the case of the Zénith de Paris, the Olympia, the Philharmonie, the Salle Pleyel, the Trianon, the Folies Bergère, the Grand Rex and the Élysée Montmartre.
And if you prefer more intimate venues to get up close and personal with your favorite artists, then head for La Maroquinerie, La Cigale, Le Trabendo, La Gaîté Lyrique, La Boule Noire or Petit Bain and Cabaret Sauvage.
Proof that Paris draws artists of every stripe, Linkin Park, Taylor Swift, Sum 41, Nick Cave, Lindsey Stirling, Alice Cooper, ZZ Top, Beth Gibbons, PJ Harvey, or Shaka Ponk have parked in the capital in recent years, just to meet their devoted fans.
