Music is rich and varied. While some are passionate about rock or metal, others only listen to rap and hip-hop, while still others prefer classical music or electro. Then there are the die-hard fans of French variété and chanson.
While a number of artists have set the standard in the field, such as Jacques Brel, Léo Ferré, Georges Brassens, Daniel Balavoine, Michel Berger and Barbara, young talents such as Zaho de Sagazan, Clara Ysé, Clara Luciani and Juliette Armanet emerge every year. These artists showcase the full extent of their talent on stage, on what are sometimes lengthy tours.
More and more French pop singers are invading the capital's concert halls, including theOlympia, La Maroquinerie, La Cigale and the Zénith de La Villette, as well as theAccor Arena and Paris La Défense Arena.
In recent months, Michel Polnareff, Véronique Sanson, Sylvie Vartan, Pascal Obispo and David Hallyday have played atParis's Accor Arena in the 12th arrondissement, the Grand Rex in the 2nd, the Salle Pleyel in the 8th and the Palais des Congrès in the 17th.
In the near future, other French variété artists will be following suit, paying tribute to this musical style which appeals so much to the French, and which brings many VF fans and enthusiasts together in a festive and convivial atmosphere.
