If you love live music, then you're undoubtedly looking forward to the summer season. This is the time of year when music festivals spring up all over the Paris region.

It's in June, the month marking the start of summer, that these large-scale musical events begin to take over verdant sites to set up their ephemeral stages. Hippodrome de Paris-Longchamp, Bois de Vincennes, Parc du Château de Fontainebleau or even Île de Loisirs de Vaires-Torcy in Seine-et-Marne... each year, these sites open their doors to a host of Francophone and international artists, ready to make live music resound.

One of June's must-see music festivals is, of course, Solidays. Organized by the Solidarité sida association since 1999, and founded by Luc Barruet, this major music and solidarity festival takes place every year on the lawns of the Longchamp racecourse. Since its inception, this famous Parisian music festival has welcomed such prestigious artists as Robbie Williams, Iggy Pop, Jean-Jacques Goldman, Youssou N'Dour, Ska-P, Yann Tiersen, Muse, Louise Attaque, Indochine and Jean-Louis Aubert.

Other music festivals held in June in Paris and Île-de-France? We Love Green. Based in the Bois de Vincennes, this event blends three days of live performances with a commitment to environmental causes. Don’t miss Days Off, which sets up shop at the Philharmonie de Paris and the Cité de la Musique, or the Django Reinhardt Festival in Seine-et-Marne!
