Plunge into the heart of Polynesia with the Tahitiandance show by the Tahia Cambet school, this Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the Maison des Pratiques Artistiques Amateurs. Two sessions await you to enjoy performances by the 'O Tahiti Nui troupe, at 5pm and 7:30pm, for a best-of of the most beautiful choreographies. In this show, nearly 100 dancers declare their love for Tahitian culture and their attachment to its values: family, sharing, joie de vivre and mutual aid.
[midroll]
For an hour, cross the centuries in Tahiti, from ancient times to the present day, accompanied by traditional songs and dances like a hīmene tārava, beautiful 'aparima and 'ōte'a, choreography and original compositions or covers by artists like Yseult. Divided into five learning levels, the women learning Tahitian dance will take to the stage dressed in costumes they've made themselves, the school counting beginners as well as dancers who've been learning to dance since childhood.
If you particularly like the show and want to try it out, classes are available all year round at My Fitness Studio, in the 20th arrondissement of Paris, from 17 euros. Dance, the intangible heritage of Tahiti and her islands, has been revitalized since the 1950s. A codification of steps has been drawn up by the Conservatoire de Tahiti. Ori Tahiti is now recognized as a technically advanced discipline on a par with other dances.
