What if you set off on a journey to the heart of one of Asia’s greatest civilizations, without leaving Paris? On October 3, don’t miss this rare chance to witness the full splendor of Cambodian classical ballet in a beautiful Parisian setting.

On Saturday, October 3, 2026, the 13e Art, Théâtre de la Place d’Italie, Paris 13 will host Sacred Earth and the Wonders of Angkor, a classical ballet from Cambodia presented by Tep Monorom France for the Francophonie Summit 2026.

Rarely shown in France in such an ambitious format, this spectacle brings together dancers and artists from Cambodia and the students of the Tep Monorom France School, around a creation that celebrates the artistic, historical and spiritual richness of Cambodia. Fully narrated in French, it allows audiences of all backgrounds to discover Cambodian classical dance, inscribed on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list.

Under the artistic direction of the esteemed ballet mistress Neak Kru CHAP Chamroeunmina, named étoile by Princess Norodom Bopha Devi, the ballet sweeps the audience into a sweeping choreographic fresco tracing the birth of the Khmer world, the emergence of a sacred land, and the golden age of the Angkor Empire.

Across the tableaux, princes and princesses, celestial Apsaras, deities, giants, a monkey, a mermaid and other mythical creatures bring to life the great legends of Khmer civilization. Each character is expressed through codified gestures, richly adorned costumes, and music specially composed and re-recorded by CHAP STUDIO in Phnom Penh.

One of the show's most anticipated moments is its finale sequence, bringing together several Apsaras, the famed celestial dancers of Cambodia. Each performer appears in distinctive jewelry and headdresses inspired by the bas-reliefs of Angkor Wat, offering the audience a glimpse of rare elegance that evokes the temple's timeless carvings.
