Set in Rome in 1923. In the hushed atmosphere of a hotel room, the famous father of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud, brilliantly played by François Berléand, slumbers peacefully. Suddenly, the door opens, letting in a young chambermaid, 23-year-old Marie, played by Nassima Benchicou. Sparkling and full of life, she awakens Freud with infectious energy. Their meeting isn't the first; they crossed paths ten years earlier, and ever since, Marie has been convinced that Freud is a circus hypnotist.
This lively comedy, which skilfully weaves laughter and emotion, explores the unexpected meeting of these two souls, and marks the return of'actor and comedian François Berléand to the stage. Berléand recently enjoyed great success on stage, starring opposite Sophie Marceau in "La Note" at the Théâtre des Bouffes Parisiens. Created by Audrey Schebat, the play marked Sophie Marceau's long-awaited return to the stage after a twelve-year absence.
"Freud et la Femme de Chambre," written by Leonardo de la Fuente and directed by Alain Sachs, is a comedy rich in emotion and misunderstanding, in which the characters reveal their innermost secrets. The play also explores Freud's attraction to Rome and highlights the cultural, generational and social differences with the character of Marie, using humorous language. From January 20 to April 7, 2024 at the Théâtre Montparnasse, we look forward to a moment of laughter and emotion.
