With Daddy, Marion Siéfert continues her exploration of digital worlds and power relationships by staging a dramatic fiction rooted in teenage online practices. Presented at the Grande Halle de la Villette for four exceptional performances, this 2023 creation is set in the world of role-playing, the immersive collective games played on the Internet. True to her aesthetic of combining theater, performance and references to popular culture, the director offers a gripping fresco on the forces of contemporary predation.

The plot of Daddy follows Mara, a 13-year-old teenager from a precarious background, who finds refuge in online role-playing games. During her sessions, she meets an older man who introduces her to a virtual world called Daddy. The seemingly seductive game promises her a dream existence modeled on the celebrities she admires. But the game soon reveals its darker side: to progress, Mara must accept increasingly ambiguous tests, where the line between reality and fiction is blurred. The play alternates intimate scenes, stylized sequences reminiscent of musicals or fantasy films, and moments of raw tension, the better to convey the logic of the grip into which the young girl is sinking.

The show would appeal to both adult and informed audiences, sensitive to social issues, youth and digital culture. Fans ofcontemporary theater, immersive stage installations and hybrid narratives may also find it of great interest. Daddy would use the codes of video games, music videos and genre cinema to address sensitive issues such as domination, control and sexual violence. Because of the subject matter and some potentially disturbing scenes, the play would not be suitable for young viewers or audiences unprepared for these issues.
