From June 6 to 22, 2025, the Théâtre de la Tempête welcomes Soleil, an immersive creation directed by Armel Roussel. Inspired by twelve short stories by Raymond Carver, this wandering experience promises a sensitive plunge into the heart of fragile, luminous stories.

Director Armel Roussel takes over the Théâtre de la Tempête from June 6 to 22, 2025 with Soleil, a show freely inspired by the work of Raymond Carver, an emblematic figure of American literature. Through an adaptation of twelve of his short stories, the theatrical space is transformed into a living journey, where spectators are invited to circulate in small groups, from stage to stage, in an immersive, moving form.

Rather than a unitary show, Soleil unfolds as a fragmented itinerary, in two distinct paths that allow each evening to discover six of the twelve stories on offer. The scenes take place in different areas of the theater - kitchen, living room, anteroom - and plunge the audience into slices of ordinary life, portrayed by modest, vulnerable characters, at the crossroads of the everyday and the unexpected. Each station lasts around twenty minutes, enough time to capture a suspended moment: an argument, a memory, a failed declaration, a heavy silence. They speak of love, solitude, alcohol, grief, family shadows... but always with Carver's characteristic poignant restraint.

This singular proposition is aimed at an audience with a curiosity for immersive forms, collective and sensory experiences, and intimate narratives with universal appeal. The ambulatory form reinforces the effect of proximity with the performers, and the short format of the scenes allows for a variety of viewpoints and rhythms. Soleil will not appeal to fans of linear narratives or classic frontal shows, but will appeal to those in search of theater that is experienced as much as it is watched.

The project brings together some twenty actors and musicians from France and Belgium, as well as Japan, Estonia, Senegal and India, to create a cosmopolitan, polyphonic show. This diversity of voices and presences contributes to making Soleil a theatrical feast, as much as a tribute to the human richness of Carver's writings. Each performance is divided into two possible itineraries, offering spectators the possibility of returning to complete their discovery.

With Soleil, the Théâtre de la Tempête offers a sensitive and playful theatrical experience, an intimate journey into the discreet but profoundly human world of Raymond Carver. A moving, participatory creation, somewhere between theater, narrative and performance, to be discovered at your own pace, like a walk through emotions.
