Franito at Théâtre Montparnasse: flamenco, burlesque and emotion

In a universe where dance, music and gesture replace words, Franito combines burlesque and emotion with virtuosity. Performing at the Théâtre Montparnasse from June 20 to August 21, 2025, this visual show takes audiences on a journey of Andalusian fantasy accessible to all.

With Franito, Patrice Thibaud creates a show at the crossroads of clowning, gestural theater and flamenco. With Fran Espinosa and Cédric Diot, he tells the story of a young flamenco prodigy raised alone by a mother allergic to noise. This unusual situation gives rise to a series of tableaux in which dance, visual humor and Spanish music take over from the dialogue, in a universal stage language. The play is presented at Théâtre Montparnasse, alternating every other week with French Cancan, in the evenings from Tuesday to Saturday and in the matinees on Sundays.

Musicals, as distinct from musicals, are a genre in their own right. This is why there are so many musical shows on offer in Paris. Here's the program. [Read more]

The plot is based on a succession of burlesque, tender and musical scenes that highlight the complicity between the performers and the expressive richness of the body in movement. Laughter mingles with emotion in a resolutely accessible form, with no text, and an aesthetic inspired as much by Andalusian traditions as by contemporary physical theater.

This show is aimed at a wide audience, including families, children, dance fans and spectators curious about non-verbal stage forms. Thanks to its wordless form, it is also accessible to non-French-speaking audiences. Those who prefer textual narratives or classical dramaturgy, on the other hand, may stay away from this type of proposal, centered on image, rhythm and movement.
