Le Lucernaire welcomes Oliver Twist from September 10, 2025 to January 11, 2026, a musical adaptation of Charles Dickens' novel by six young artists, to be performed on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Director Ned Grujic transposes Dickens ' famous novel into a musical comedy for all ages, starring Axel Deros, Zoé Destefanis, Zacharie D'Olce, Ruben Norguet, Léa Ruiz and Pauline Tonnot. In the manner of 19th-century hucksters, the actors move nimbly from narration to acting, successively playing Oliver Twist, the crook Sikes, young Nancy, Fagin, Charley and the wily Finaud.

The staging is based on a sustained rhythm combining original songs, choreographedballets and tap dancing, in an atmosphere reminiscent of Les Enfants du paradis or Le Kid. The show plunges us into the underbelly of Victorian London with a collective energy that restores the richness and contrasts of the original work.

Aimed at children aged 6 and over, as well as adults in search of nostalgia, Oliver Twist is designed for families and audiences who enjoy lively, accessible musical theater. It will appeal to those looking for a show that combines emotion and fantasy, while remaining faithful to the spirit of the novel. On the other hand, those who prefer a full-length or darker version of Dickens' work may find themselves at a distance from this resolutely playful and condensed adaptation.

With performances on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2.30pm, and Sundays at 2pm at Le Lucernaire, Oliver Twist is an ideal family program for daytime outings.
