The Musée de la Grande Guerre commemorates the 107th anniversary of the armistice of the First World War, with a special program on November 11, 2025. Here's what's in store.

On November 11, France celebrates the armistice of the First World War. The purpose of this commemoration is to honor fallen soldiers, and to remember the horrors of war, so that such actions are not repeated. This date is obviously important for the Musée de la Grande Guerre in Meaux, whose mission is to tell and educate the public about the history of the First World War.

What's more, the Musée de la Grande Guerre was inaugurated on November 11, 2011, marking a very special anniversary and date each autumn. To mark the occasion, the place of history and remembrance has planned a special program.

This Tuesday, November 11, 2025, on the 107th anniversary of the Armistice, the Meldois museum is organizing a day ofspecial events, open to children and adults alike. To mark the occasion, the museum is showcasing its collections and offering a range of educational activities to make history even more fascinating. Please note that some of the museum's activities require prior booking.

Here is the program for this important day:

  • Virtual reality film "Champ de bataille"
    Don't miss the brand-new virtual reality film "Champ de bataille", on show at the Musée de la Grande Guerre for a few days yet. A poignant and original immersive experience to be discovered equipped with a VR headset.
    By reservation only - surcharge (7€)
    Not recommended for children under 12.

  • Themed guided tours around the trench
    Discover the museum's collections and stories from the front in a whole new way, with special tours designed to plunge you into the heart of history.

  • "Fleurs de mémoire": making cornflowers and poppies
    Espace famille
    This creative workshop invites participants to make cornflowers and poppies, symbols of remembrance and homage to war veterans. Through the manipulation of shapes, colors and textures, each participant will be able to express his or her own sensibility, while discovering the historical significance of these emblematic flowers. Throughout the day, make your own cornflowers and poppies and help create a collective work of art to adorn the museum forecourt.
    Time required to make a flower: approx. 5 min.
    No reservation required - included in admission ticket.

  • Access to the trench
    Reservation required for slots every 30 minutes from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  • Free admission to the museum and temporary exhibitions
    "Des chevaux et des hommes" and "Derrière les masques. Photographs of the two wars".
    No reservation required - included in admission ticket

  • Encounters with re-enactors in period costume
    Re-enactors in the museum and trench, plus other events organized by the Société des amis du musée de la Grande Guerre and Scènes et Marne 14.

  • Animation around the Saint-Chamond tank
    On the forecourt by the Mémoire de Poilus association
