Roee Rosen, the exhibition at Paris Centre Pompidou

The Centre Pompidou houses an exhibition devoted to Israeli-American artists, writer and director Roee Rosen, entitled “Histoires dans la Pénombre”. To be visited from June 27 to October 29, 2018.

Galerie 0 is a very particular area of Centre Pompidou, a “prospective area” opening the way to tests. That way, the retrospective dedicated to multidisciplinary artist Roee Rosen should be multiple: in this space, it definitely is.

First, the exhibition promotes Roee Rosen’s three major works:

  • The Blind Merchant (1989-1991), a collection of 145 drawings and 151 text pages offering an alternative tale of Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice told by a blind usurer.

  • Vladimir’s Night (2011-2014), a series of 39 gouaches on paper that looks like a political treaty about the dangers of object fetishizing.

  • The Dust Channel (2016), Rosen’s latest movie and last chapter of the series.

This exhibition goes with a cinematographic retrospective, taking place at the Centre Pompidou movie theater and called “Douce Sueur”. The latter asks about Roee Rosen’s works on History.

Finally, a whole range of performances and dialogs between the moviemaker and international guests (such as Ekaterina Degot, Paul B. Preciado, Jean-Pierre Rhem and Ana Teixeira Pinto) complete the exhibition and the retrospective.

Please note this event is displayed as part of the France-Israel 2018 season.
