Freestyle 2025, the free street culture festival celebrates its 10th anniversary at La Villette

Freestyle, the unmissable street culture festival, is back at La Villette! Dance, street-art, fashion, music, sport... The free street culture festival returns for a new, even more incredible edition, on May 31 and June 1, 2025. Not to be missed!

A whole weekend dedicated to street culture in all its forms, for a total immersion in urban art. It's a not-to-be-missed event that's back at La Villette for its tenth edition, on May 31 and June 1, 2025. The free Freestyle festival is back with an extra edition, celebrating 10 years of the event, to our great delight!

This year, the Freestyle festival takes place outdoors, day and night, for even more discoveries and surprises. See you on the Prairie du Cercle Nord, in the various areas of the site, for a wide range of entertainment. An open-air event, to take advantage of the freedom offered by these wide-open spaces, and to have fun in the bright Parisian sunshine. Performances, workshops, demonstrations and parties await us during this memorable weekend.

On the program? Dancing, roller dancing, street-art, basketball, street workouts, DJ sets, artistic battles and many other activities open to all. In short, it's a popular festival that's not to be missed! Sweet and savoury food trucks are on hand every day, so we can make the most of the festival.

  • GUILLAUMIT - BLOCKSMOG

    In his colorful, geometric creations, Guillaumit blends drawing, 2D and 3D animation and video games, taking a humorous approach to contemporary issues. For BlockSmog, he imagined a participative transmedia exhibition on the theme of air pollution, combining graphic arts and augmented reality. The work consists of 3 frescoes with a narrative progression, each associated with an augmented reality mini-game, accessible via a mobile application. Each game tackles a specific aspect of air pollution in a fun and engaging way.

  • PARABOLID with LA FILIÈRE FRESQUE & ART EN SITUATION of the Beaux-Arts de Paris

    A professional training program for graduates, the Fresque & Art en situation program of the Beaux-Arts de Paris enables its students to work in various fields of art in the public space. For their first partnership with Freestyle and La Villette, the group of students designed Parabolid, a monumental installation which, with a convertible car on top, symbolizes the passage from one urban era to another.

    Rendez-vous incontournable for movement enthusiasts, the Tournoi du Temple, the only official national battle, brings together the country's best tricksters. A freestyle superhero sport, tricking blends acrobatics and martial arts, crossing gymnastics with capoeira, taekwondo and kung fu. In battles without nets or special effects, athletes challenge each other with spectacular aerial tricks. Hosted by Vivien Youlou and DJ Viol3nce, the Temple Tournament will be preceded by an initiation session open to all. An intense and explosive moment to experience, to watch... and to try!

  • SKATEPARK

    Accessible to everyone aged 3 and over, the skate park offers 300 m² of riding space for all levels. On the program: initiation to freestyle scooter and skateboard, demonstrations by professional BMX, skate and scooter riders... Equipment and protective gear available on site. Sports educators on hand to supervise the discipline.

  • DADDY K7

    Daddy K7 Daddy K7 & The Tapes Protectors, audio cassette collectors from Belgium, bring all their treasures to set the mood! Nestled in a structure made entirely of cassette tapes, these upcycling DJs invite you to take an active part in their sets: unearth musical favourites thanks to their listening terminals, get them signed live to the person of your choice (the famous dedications), and sway to the dancefloor!

  • KID PIER - GHETTOBLASTER

    La mosaïque, c'est le futur! Heir to the pop art tradition of the ready-made, Kid Pier confronts the objects of 21st-century culture with the ancestral art of mosaic, born 6,000 years ago. By sculpting Internet memes, game-boys, Polaroid film and Amazon parcels, he takes these symbols into the future and bears witness to his own era: from the birth of YouTube to the first video game consoles, from VHS cassettes to the first cell phones. For Freestyle, Kid Pier created a ghettoblaster sculpture, a symbol of the birth of hip-hop, which he transposed into a live-painted fresco. Disabled following a serious accident, the artist invites the public to paint his fresco with him.

  • ALISA ANDRASEK ET JOSE SANCHEZ BLOOM GAMES

    A construction game developed by designers Alisa Andrasek and José Sanchez, Bloom Games lets you appropriate urban space and give free rein to your imagination. More than 1,500 interlocking parts are available for participants to create a collective, evolving and participative work of art. The infinite number of possibilities makes it unique to each new installation. The flexible, resistant plastic allows the creation of curves, tunnels and other plant-inspired shapes.

  • RADIO MINUS

    Daddy K7 Nippon Mambo, French folk, Turkish electronica or youthful cumbia, Radio Minus presents the hidden treasures of records recorded for or by children. Between meditative curiosities and unsuspected hits, they teleport their unlikely collection to Daddy K7, for a two-hour set that promises many surprises.

    New this year on the 3x3 basketball side: the Comité Parisien de BasketBall opens its Ligue des Playgrounds. Bringing together the 3x3 teams from the various Parisian courts, the Ligue des Playgrounds will celebrate its birth at Freestyle in the form of a tournament that already promises to be mythical!

  • SI SI LA PAILLETTE

    Si Si La Paillette is the green, glittery cosmetics brand. Created in 2019 by two sisters in love with parties and the planet, its ambition is to make the world shine without polluting it. From Saturday to Sunday, head to the glitter bar, where make-up artist Si Si will give you a glittery makeover!

    On November 24, 1991, Farrokh Bulsara, better known as Freddie Mercury, died of AIDS. Thirty years later, the Queen-A-Man men's cheerleading team, led by their Breton captain, created a show in his honor, based on Queen's anthology of songs. An emotionally-charged, choreographed tribute by fans not so young... but not so old!

    Raising awareness of women's rights

    Run by the Fédération régionale des CIDFF d'Ile-de-France, the Van Info Femme goes out to meet the people of the Ile-de-France region, introducing them to the network they can benefit from free of charge, while raising their awareness of gender equality and sexist and sexual violence. As part of Freestyle, through games and discussions with professionals, the van raises awareness of the risks of prostitution, in partnership with the Mouvement du Nid, a specialist association. Targeting young people first and foremost, it reminds them of the law, initiates discussions on the subject, and introduces them to their respective associations and free services in case of need.

    Originally from the townships of South Africa, amapiano is now being danced all over the world. Thanks to videos of choreographies that have gone viral, this dance, which mixes Zulu steps with deep house and kwaito sounds, has created a highly codified form of movement that has become as popular as the sounds that accompany it. An ultra-festive dance that is as much spiritual as it is social, amapiano celebrates the joy of being together, and tells the story of life in the neighborhoods with humor and pride. Ambassador of amapiano and South African culture, Andy Dlamini offers a giant initiation course to the Freestyle audience!

    More than just a battle, the Ghôst Flow Battle Jam is a celebration of dance fusion, featuring freestyle, creativity and sharing. Created by Meech De France, four-time champion of the Juste Debout international battle, this unique event offers an authentic and inclusive space for expression, open to amateurs and professionals alike, valuing innovation, surpassing oneself and artistic transmission. On the program: waacking battles with Boubou and hip-hop battles with Lindsay Badness, jams with DJ Moody Mike and Randytchik, Legion Dance Academy shows and encounters with international artists such as Max Loove and Muteki. A not-to-be-missed event hosted by MC Nasty.

    Fulu Miziki, or "the sound of garbage" in Lingala, is an Eco-Friendly-Afro-Futuristic-Punk band born in the streets of Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Created from recycled materials, their instruments and costumes make these pan-African artists look like cyberpunks straight out of Mad Max. Carrying a message of peace and ecology, their music, which they call Twerkanda, is an explosive post-soukous Afro disco-house trance.

    Born and raised in Côte d'Ivoire, Asna explores the infinite mix of traditional rhythm patterns with electronic music. Her irresistible Afro Techno incorporates a variety of genres, from Ivorian coupé décalé to Angolan dancehall, Afro-house, gqom and the new African experimental scene. Since 2020, Asna has been bringing her new vision of rhythms and sounds to the four corners of the world, from the Nyege Nyege Festival (Uganda) to the Fusion Festival (Germany), from the ADE festival (Amsterdam) to Glastonbury (UK).

    Funk is Not a Joke is the new federative event celebrating Funkstyle culture through Locking, Popping and Top Rock. Created by Funky-J in partnership with the Lady Rocks company, it energizes the funk and hip-hop scene by building bridges between generations. For this year's event, an exceptional line-up will bring together iconic figures such as Mr Wiggles, Melle Leeza and Soul Train pioneer Pat Davis aka Madam Butterfly. Amateurs and professionals alike are invited to join in battles, workshops and jams on the magnificent Prairie du Cercle Nord!

    DJ, singer, dancer, performer and musician, Scorpio Qveen, member of the Maraboutage collective, aspires to transcend the condition of gender and color through music and dance. Reflecting her attachment to Jamaican and Caribbean cultures, her musical works are marked by dancehall & shatta sounds. For her concert at Freestyle, the Queen of the Dancefloor, as comfortable on stage as behind the turntables, will be accompanied by dancers.

  • GINGER BOY

    After a trip to Dakar, Senegal, French-Moroccan DJ Ginger Boy discovered his passion for Afrobeat. Today, he is a benchmark DJ, with sets for Aya Nakamura, Rema, Burna Boy, Wizkid and Meryl. A member of the SSSOUND collective, the man nicknamed the Afrobeat Alchemist is just as strongly inspired by West Indian culture as he is by Afro-Caribbean music: guaranteed excitement!

A crazy program for a weekend of festivities! This weekend promises to be a memorable one, with Freestyle extra at La Villette.
