Look out, here it is: the new permanent exhibition that will fascinate us to no end. "Bio-inspired" takes up residence at the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie from September 18, 2020. A great introduction to talking about the environment and sustainable solutions with children and grown-ups alike.

The 2020-2021 season at the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie focuses onecology and theenvironment. We're kicking things off with something new: a permanent exhibition opens on September 18, 2020: Bio-inspired. The Cité des Sciences continues its exploration of the contemporary world, focusing on living organisms and their survival.

The exhibition is divided into four acts. The first is an amuse-bouche - almost literally. The first part awakens visitors' senses, titillates their curiosity and alerts their critical faculties. In the second act, we marvel at the beauty, richness and grandeur of nature. We arrive in a greenhouse that groups together three ecosystems: a coral reef and its macroalgal bioreactor, a mangrove, a forest floor and its permaculture garden. In each case, a plate illustrated by a naturalist illustrator presents eight to ten associated species. Each visit is unique: the ecosystems evolve throughout the year.

In the third act, we have the privilege of observing living things, seeing the connections and synchronizations that take place between all organisms. Life on Earth, the fragile balance that sustains it, is detailed in various tableaux. The final section is inspired by the words of Leonardo da Vinci: " Learn from nature, and you'll find your future ". The tour invites us to reflect on sustainable development and the evolution of our lifestyles.

Children should appreciate all the fun and interactive elements that accompany and enrich the visitor experience. Group games, tactile and educational elements encourage visitors to get involved and transform the environments before them.

There's also a new mediation area: the Biolab. Visitors are encouraged to take part in environmental exchanges and experiments.

Bio-inspired is accompanied by a series of conferences, from November 17 to December 8, on the theme of nature. Researchers explore the relationship between man and the environment, and ask questions about global warming and the world of tomorrow.

Bio-inspired joins the small family of exhibitions including Robots, E-Lab, Cerveau, L'Homme et les gènes, L'Argonaute, Sous l'Océan, Solar Impulse 1...

Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
