Vogue exhibition at the Palais Galliera, enjoy 100 years of Vogue

Get your party hats and favors out, there is an anniversary to celebrate! The Palais Galliera invites us from October 2, 2021 to January 30, 2022 for a compelling event: a wonderful exhibition celebrating Vogue Paris magazine’s 100^th anniversary. The “Vogue Paris 1920-2020” exhibition promises to be as eclectic as the magazine that made fashion a fantasy and a topic.

Founded in 1920 by Condé Nast, the Parisian version of the fashion magazine has blown a new wind thanks to the different editors in chief. We owe them bold choices for the cover of many fights for women’s empowerment. The “boyish” look of models in the 20’s, then the excessive sensuality of actresses, transgender people, and other trendy celebrities have always been shot by the greatest photographers: the magazine is not into making traditions and wishes to shake the little world of fashion, and more generally, the whole world.

Paris museum of fashion was to present a retrospective of the magazine, all the more so it is a patron thanks to the Vogue Paris Foundation aiming at supporting and promoting contemporary fashion creation. Every year, the foundation horsts a gala enabling to raise founds for the museum and improve the collection featuring fashion pieces, accessories and illustrations.

Besides the museum’s collections including hundreds of clothes, accessories, photographs, drawings, illustrations and sketches, you will find Vogue magazines, photographs, models, archives and movies that – according to the museum – enable to shine a light on the way Vogue Paris is playing a major and peculiar part in the spreading of the Parisian creation and helps make of Paris the international capital city of fashion.

Renown photographers, famed designers, unforgettable models, chic and shock topics… Vogue magazine reveals itself through over 400 works coming mostly from the magazine’s archives. Enjoy photographs, illustrations, magazines, documents, movies… As well as about fifteen haute-couture and ready-to-wear pieces.
