New exhibition alert at the Palais de Tokyo! The museum invites you to discover its latest exhibition, Hors de la nuit des normes, hors de l'énorme ennui, from October 19, 2023 to January 7, 2024. It's a bold exploration of the deep nuances of love, friendship and sexuality through the prism of a variety of artistic practices. Bringing together no fewer than twenty French and international artists and collectives, this exhibition aims to redefine current societal norms by looking at the recomposition of feelings and conflicts.

Rather than seeing love as a simple subject, theexhibition sees it as an act of resistance, overcoming the rigid norms that limit our emotional expressions. Visitors are invited to plunge into a universe of archive, contemporary and historical fiction, a mix of poetry, sculpture, drawing and video, which blurs temporal lines and offers a broader, more inclusive vision of love.

The Palais de Tokyo, in its desire to explore the question of love from a queer and ecofeminist angle, has given curators carte blanche to cultivate the multiple expressions of this sentiment. Rather than limiting this exploration to a simple definition, the aim was to capture its ephemeral essence. In preparation for this exhibition, the Palais de Tokyo innovated by transforming the space into a residence for artists, renamed La Friche. This initiative made it possible to cross-fertilize artistic practices and question the institution from the inside, creating an enriching dialogue between the artists and the institution.

To anchor this exhibition in a historical reality, its title echoes a banner from the first lesbian demonstration in Geneva in 1982. Artists such as Linga Acácio, Gloria Anzaldúa and Agnès Varda, to name but a few, contribute their unique perspectives, making this exhibition both powerful and relevant. Combining history, activism and art, Out of the Night of Standards, Out of the Enormous Boredom offers visitors an unforgettable artistic experience. Discover it now!
