The Musée de la Marine is organizing its first special evening, on the theme of Women, the Sea and Cinema. Don't miss this festive evening on March 7, 2024.

The Musée de la Marine is putting women in the spotlight this Thursday, March 7, 2024, on the eve of International Women's Rights Day. The museum is offering a new and festive evening, based around its Objectif mer exhibition: for this special evening, the focus is on women, the sea and cinema. The museum 'sContre Soirée is a chance to (re)discover the museum in a new light, and to enjoy a range of new activities.

For its first exhibition since reopening, the Musée de la Marine invites us on a voyage into the world of cinema. Discover the exhibition "Objectif mer : l'océan filmé", from December 13, 2023 to May 5, 2024. [Read more]

From 7 to 11 p.m., the newly-renovated museum invites you to discover its collections and temporary exhibition... But that's not all! A whole program is planned to make this evening unforgettable. Workshops, meetings, DJ sets, screenings: a host of fun and exciting activities await us.

All evening activities are free of charge - but you'll still need to buy your admission ticket for the museum. Please note that most activities require a reservation, so get your tickets now.

On the program for this Contre soirée at the Musée de la Marine:

  • Points parole
    Mediators, placed throughout the exhibition and the permanent collections, invite you to take a fresh look at the works, in relation to women and cinema.
    7pm-10pm

  • Introduction to screen-printing workshop
    Try your hand at screen-printing and create your own film poster.
    Space permitting
    7-10pm

  • Objectif Mer - Women on screen
    • Rencontres
      What role do women play in films about the sea and sailors? Speakers at this round-table discussion will look at their absence, their presence and the way they are portrayed and filmed.
      7.45pm - 8.45pm
      Reservations required.

    • Screenings
      Take advantage of this evening to discover powerful portraits of women sailors, just like in the cinema.
