To celebrate the 10th anniversary of its reopening, the Musée de l'Homme is offering a festive weekend on October 4 and 5, 2025, featuring science, prehistory and activities for the whole family, including interactive workshops to immerse you in the daily lives of our ancestors.

The Musée de l'Homme explores our origins and evolution, from Neanderthal man to Homo Sapiens, before bringing the permanent collections to a close with an open reflection on the future of Man. On the weekend of October 4 and 5, 2025, the museum celebrates the 10th anniversary of its reopening, with a birthday party open to the whole family and a host of events, under the banner of prehistory, science and festivities!

To mark the occasion, the museum is opening a new area for children, where they can immerse themselves in the daily lives of our prehistoric ancestors! A whole host of workshops await you to explore this era and travel back in time: build a Neanderthal shelter, light a fire like a Homo erectus, climb a tree like an Australopithecus and decorate a wall like our distant Homo sapiensancestors...

A fun and interactive immersion, where visitors can also talk directly to scientists from the Musée de l'Homme, about the secrets of fossils and ancient tools, collections of amulets and magic objects, the mysteries of DNA and other elements often unknown to the general public!

The program includes

  • A musical reading by Léonor de Recondo, baroque violinist and novelist, of her new tale Alma et la Vénus d'ivoire (Alma and the Ivory Venus).
  • Two new themed guided tours of the Galerie de l'Homme, focusing on questions of gender and human diversity.
  • Exceptional tours of the museum's storerooms, usually closed to the public, with collection managers as private guides
  • The launch of the Galerie de l'Homme's new children's guide "Ariol au musée", in the presence of the authors, with a surprise photocall and collective fresco.
