The excitementof Art Basel returns to Paris, transforming the city into a playground for collectors, curious minds, and art lovers ready to thrill to the unusual galleries and installations. The Hors les murs (Outside the Walls ) tour kicks off the festivities on October 20, but it is from October 24 to 26, 2025, in the 3rd arrondissement, that the A-POC ABLE ISSEY MIYAKE concept presents its installation, a dialogue between textiles and light.
Founded in 2021, the brand explores all the possibilities of a simple piece of fabric—A-POC for "a piece of cloth"—in fashion and design. At its helm, Yoshiyuki Miyamae, former designer for Issey Miyake (from 2011 to 2019), transforms the material into a true artistic language. For this project, the collaboration with artist Eugene Kangawa gave rise to the "TYPE-XIV Eugene Studio Project," inspired by his series "Light and shadow inside me."

This series combines turquoise works created by exposure to sunlight and black and white pieces made from photographic paper and photogram techniques. Kangawa folds the paper in three dimensions in a darkroom and exposes it to a single light source, capturing only the light and shadow of the object. When unfolded, these works reveal unique textures and nuances.
A-POC transposes this exploration into textiles, playing on the density of the weave and just two threads, black and white, to create gradations without pigments. The installation, designed by architect Tsuyoshi Tane and his studio ATTA, deploys a single fabric across the space, oscillating between light and shadow, flatness and volume. Visitors can discover production tools, join guided tours with Kangawa and Miyamae, or take part in a creative workshop. Admission is free upon reservation.
