Night of the Castles 2026: A nighttime stroll into the heart of history at Villers Castle.

The Château de Villers, in Val d'Oise, is taking part in the 8th edition of the Night of the Castles, on 17 and 18 October 2026. Discover the evening program.

You’ve likely heard of the Night of Museums and the Night of Churches; get ready as well for the Night of the Castles! This nationwide event is back on the weekend of October 16–18, 2026 across all regions of France. Over these three days, several châteaux open their doors after dark and offer tours, performances, and activities for the whole family.

Launched in 2019 by a heritage and tourism operator, the Nuit des Châteaux aims to spotlight these remarkable monuments. After nightfall, more than 300 castles open their doors to welcome us and reveal their history, treasures and architecture.

In Île-de-France, several sites participate in this event. This is notably the case for the Château de Villers, located in Villers-en-Arthies, in the Vexin Français. This 17th-century castle was built by Alexandre de Villers in memory of his wife. Before the main building was erected, the site served as a hunting lodge used by Saint Louis and his mother, Blanche of Castile.

The Château de Villers is listed as a Historic Monument. This privately owned castle, rich in history, opens its doors for its special evening openings on 17 and 18 October. See the program for the night.

Villers Castle Night Tours: Between Shadows and Light, a Historic Walk
Saturday 17 October 2026 to Sunday 18 October 2026
We invite you to a historical stroll from the castle’s illuminated façade, beneath the park’s lit trees, toward the Temple of true happiness. We’ll be waiting from 5 to 9 pm on Saturday, 17 October and from 4 to 7 pm on Sunday, 18 October. Poetic and theatrical performances will be staged by the family, the Friends of Villarceaux, Comet Event and Art et Création d'Epône.
The history of Villers begins in the 13th century, when Saint Louis transforms a defensive tower into a hunting lodge. In the 17th century, the current castle is built, and it changes hands three times before being purchased in 1782 by Monsieur Roger de Berville. King Louis XVI signs his son Alexandre Roger’s marriage contract, ennobles him, and gives him the right to take the village’s name. The castle has belonged to the Roger de Villers family for nearly 250 years, and its members will be happy to share this story with you.
