Ready to be amazed this spring? Disneyland Paris is offering a brand-new show based on Alice in Wonderland at Walt Disney Studios Park from May 25 to September 29, 2024. Entitled Alice and the Queen of Hearts: Return to Wonderland, the show is a modern, extravagant interpretation of this classic tale, with a unique participatory touch. We previewed the show and tell you all about it!

Disneyland Paris takes you down the rabbit hole... The Parisian theme park invites you to discover its brand-new show at Walt Disney Studios Park, from May 25 to September 29, 2024. A brand-new pop-rock show inspired by Broadway musicals, performed three times a day and lasting 30 minutes, all in a quirky, ultra-colorful atmosphere, entitled Alice and the Queen of Hearts: Return to Wonderland (and based, as its name suggests, on Alice in Wonderland), and which promises to transport young and old alike into a quirky, colorful universe. Inspired by the great Disney animated classic, this new interpretation is modern and extravagant, offering a daring new take on the cult classic!

But that's not all! The experience promises to be rich in emotion and energy. In fact, the show combines various disciplines, including BMX, for a vibrant and dynamic musical performance. Lovers of dance, song and comedy will also find something to their liking, with live dancers and singers, as well as acrobats... And the Disney magic doesn't stop there: visitors aren't just spectators. They will have the unique opportunity to play a decisive role in the show, actively participating in the outcome of the adventure.

There will be a large central stage, as well as a number of apparatus so that spectators not facing the stage can also enjoy the show, with a few surprises thrown in for good measure. In terms of innovation, the stage will include a "trampomur", as well as BMX, a 14m-long trampoline and a dozen video screens. A great musical show mixing several musical styles and offering spectators the chance to participate by voting for Alice or for the Queen of Hearts, on the basis of one question: who should have won the croquet game?

Our review of Alice and the Queen of Hearts - Return to Wonderland at Walt Disney Studios :

So, what is this show about Alice's adventures worth? On the occasion of a rehearsal session, we were able to attend a complete run-through, in real-life conditions. The set (which is the first thing you see) is dazzling and eye-popping... We're plunged straight into the heart of Wonderland, with its ramps and trampolines, but that's without counting on the container-style decor and its very urban and graphic rosebushes to add a touch of fantasy and modernity. An urban version of Alice... We approve!

As for the show itself, it's very complete! There's something going on everywhere: singing and dancing on the main stage, BMX on the ramps, "Stomp"-style drums, trampolines on the sides, pyrotechnics... You'll need to keep your eyes peeled. Everything blends together and complements each other in beautiful harmony. In short, we're won over. The 30-minute show (presented three times a day) is well-paced and rather dynamic. There's never a dull moment.

As for the songs, there are some new creations(Welcome to Wonderland), as well as mixes of existing songs from the Disney classic(Un matin de mai fleuri)... It's fresh, it's ultra-modern and it gets stuck in your head very quickly. Rhythmic songs whose musical style is also adapted to the characters, sinceAlice 's songs are very pop, while the Queen of Hearts ' songs are more rock. It's modern and well done... A very good point.

And as for the characters themselves, we really like the group dynamic that emerges, with a few exaggerations in the reactions, in the vein of a show that quickly becomes flamboyant. The Queen of Hearts is a real drama queen, lighting up the stage with her punk attitude (and her arrival on a motorcycle worthy of the greatest divas...). At the end of the show, of course, we voted for the Queen... who won her match against Alice! And something tells us she's likely to win quite often...

On the other hand, we regret that some of the characters, such as the Hookah Caterpillar, the White Rabbit, the March Hare and the Tweedles, are a little out of place alongsideAlice, the Hatter and the Queen, but are nonetheless essential to the cohesion of the whole. They're in the background, and we appreciate their presence. The Cheshire Cat is also present via the screens, very fun, very much into comedic gestures, undoubtedly reminding us of Jim Carrey.

All in all,Alice and the Queen of Hearts: Return to Wonderland is a good show, in our humble opinion, and should appeal to allAlice in Wonderland fans. We were a little dubious about the mix of "urban atmosphere", BMX, trampoline and Alice's world, but in the end it all comes together quite well, thanks to a simple but well-written story and a sufficiently zany universe to make it all fit together. A must-see... All you have to do is make up your own mind!

For Disney fans andAlice aficionados alike, this is sure to be one of the most eagerly awaited events of 2024. An opportunity to plunge into the extravagant, dreamlike world ofAlice in Wonderland... And an immersive Disneyland Paris experience you won't want to miss! Shall we put it in our diaries, folks?
