There are parades that lift your eyes to the heavens… and others that force you to look down. On Sunday, October 4, 2026, gazes will remain close to the pavement to admire a long procession of dachshunds at the Paris Sausage Walk. After six editions along the banks of the Seine, the canine event is changing its leash and getting a new stretch of pavement: the Champs-Élysées, unusually pedestrianized for the occasion. A first that should draw a sizeable crowd of curious onlookers!
Since 2018, this walk inspired by the London Sausage Walk brings together owners, enthusiasts and Sunday walkers around a shared passion for the famous long-eared dogs with short legs. The principle hasn't changed a bit: a balade conviviale, meetups, plenty of photos and an army of teckels. This year, the backdrop evolves, but the spirit remains the same.
As in years past, the Paris Sausage Walk remains, above all, a 100% charitable event, organized to benefit the association Teckels Sans Doux Foyer, which rescues, cares for, and finds homes for abandoned or mistreated dachshunds. The 2026 edition will also be backed by the Champs-Élysées Committee, which will symbolically roll out the red carpet for these four-legged guests.
The meetup is set for Sunday, October 4, 2026. Participant check-in will begin at 10:00 a.m. on the top of the Champs-Élysées, before the walk departs at 11:00 a.m. And true to the calendar: this seventh edition takes place on the very day of the World Animal Day.
The procession will set off from the top of the Champs-Élysées, go down the avenue to the Rond-Point, then turn back to return to its starting point. In total, expect 1.4 km round trip, i.e., a stroll from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for little paws.
The event is free and open to everyone, with or without a dachshund. If you’re planning to join the pack, the organizers simply ask you to fill out an online questionnaire—one form per household—to better gauge the number of participants and to help tailor the walk.
