Rendez-vous aux Jardins is an initiative of the French Ministry of Culture, which celebrates France's most beautiful gardens and green spaces every year during the first weekend in June. The event invites young and old alike to explore green spaces that are often little-known or usually closed to the public. On the program: educational workshops, conferences, art exhibitions and guided tours led by gardening enthusiasts and landscape art specialists.
The Jardin Botanique de Sannois, tucked in the Val-d'Oise, is a charming garden that attracts botany enthusiasts and families in search of a bit of tranquility. Created in the early 20th century by the renowned landscape architect Jean-Claude Nicolas Forestier, this botanical garden was originally designed to educate the public and promote plant knowledge through a impressive collection of plant species, including many medicinal plants, native or tropical. It features collections of old roses, fruit trees, and several varieties of medicinal and aromatic plants. The park is also famous for its magnificent sequoias and water features that create a microclimate ideal for certain rare species.
