For decades, Marcoussis, in the Essonne department of France, has been the place to be every March for the Carnaval de Bineau. A true traditional carnival, it's the event not to be missed in the town, and this year it falls on Sunday March 16, 2025.
Throughout the festive afternoon, the town of Marcoussis takes part in a large costume parade with fanfare and floats, forming a merry procession through the streets of the town for several hours. As tradition dictates, the carnival parade ends with the sacrifice of Bineau (i.e., the setting on fire of the carnival person Bineau). To make sure your parade goes off without a hitch, don't forget to come dressed in your best costumes, make-up and folk accessories (and don't forget the confetti!) to blend in with the crowd.
See you in Marcoussis on Sunday 16 March, from 3pm, to celebrate this great carnival together!
