Fancyreading on a hammock in a quiet spot in the capital? That's what the Bibliambule offers, a mobilelibrary that promotes reading, sharing and relaxation. Installed on an electric tricycle, it can be set up anywhere, and deploys seven hammocks around it, to welcome children aged 5 to 16 (and adults too) who'd like to settle down for a bit of reading, with nearly 600 books in its kiosk.
It's a great way to give as many people as possible access to books in neighborhoods with few libraries, especially as this one doesn't look like the kind you'd expect, with a colorful design that intrigues passers-by. At the moment, every Friday throughout the summer, the Bibliambule is deployed on the Rosa Parks forecourt, where employees of the Bibliothèque Benjamin Rabier partenaire read to children for two hours, without having to be quiet this time.
The device can be booked independently and free of charge from April to September, and was the brainchild of Amandine and Charlotte, as part of their studies at the Arts Décoratifs. Currently touring the 19th arrondissement with the association Emile et Rosa, which purchased it, the Bibliambule has already been seen in the 14th.
