Châtenay-Malabry, in the Hauts-de-Seine department (92), is getting a new green lung with the opening of the Parc de la Roseraie. This eight-hectare departmental park, classified as a historic monument, invites visitors to stroll beneath the foliage, between remarkable 19th-century trees and treasures of the past, such as the manor house of the Countess of Boigne and the remains of the Arouet house, a reference to Voltaire's family.

Châtenay-Malabry puts green in the spotlight with Parc de la Roseraie! Since Monday August 4, 2025, this new eight-hectare departmental park has been open to the public. Classified as a historic monument and nestling between the old town center and Avenue de la Division Leclerc, this new space enriches the commune's natural heritage.

Formerly occupied by part of the CREPS Île-de-France (Centre de Ressources, d'Expertise et de Performance Sportive), the site was redeveloped following work linked to the 2024 Olympic Games. Sports activities were grouped together in the upper part of the site, freeing up 8 hectares of woodland below. So the Hauts-de-Seine department (92) and the municipality jumped at the chance to transform this corner of nature into a showcase open to all, accessible every day via rue du Docteur Le Savoureux or avenue de la Division Leclerc (opposite the T10 "Théâtre La Piscine" tramway). For the moment, dogs and bicycles are waiting at the entrance, awaiting custom-designed facilities.

In the Parc de la Roseraie, nature and the past meet under the foliage. Five remarkable 19th-century trees are listed, including a majestic purple beech, a Corsican pine and a four-trunked plane tree. Here, you can stroll beneath the foliage, skirt the ponds, meet barnacle geese with their young, spot squirrels and foxes, and relax on the lawns, particularly the one opposite the manor house of the Countess of Boigne. And don't forget to admire the remains of the Arouet house, once associated with Voltaire's family.

To make this green lung safer and more attractive, almost 1,000 trees were inventoried, two purple beeches saved and areas dedicated to biodiversity created. Dead trunks preserved as candles now provide refuge for bats and other small forest inhabitants.

And this is just the beginning! This opening launches an ambitious departmental plan to add 50 hectares of greenery to the Hauts-de-Seine. Enough to breathe, recharge your batteries and get seriously green!
