Ballon de Paris: free scientific flights open to the general public during COP30

On the occasion of COP30, the Ballon de Paris is inviting the general public to enjoy free scientific flights, reaching altitudes of up to 300 meters. Find out more about these free flights (available by reservation) from November 8 to 21, 2025, from 8 to 9 a.m.

Want to enjoy a unique, panoramic, and educational experience by flying up to 300 meters above Paris? This fall, on the occasion of COP30, the famous Ballon de Parisis opening several of its scientific flights to the general public , free of charge. These flights, usually reserved for researchers from the CNRS and the European Copernicus program, can reach an altitude of 300 meters above André-Citroën Park. The objective for scientists is simple: to measure air quality and greenhouse gases above the capital.

So, when and how can you take advantage of these free scientific flights aboard the Generali Balloon? These flights, which are exceptionally open to the general public, will depart from André-Citroën Park, and only from November 8 to 21, 2025, from 8 to 9 a.m. To take advantage of these free flights, remember to register in advance via this link. Please note that these flights are limited to 20 people per day. So don't delay if you want to enjoy this unique experience. Please also note that flights aboard the aircraft are subject to weather conditions. Some of them may unfortunately be canceled if the weather does not permit. 

This flight over Paris, made possible by the world's largest tethered balloon, will be accompanied by an explanatory tour. This will be an opportunity for future visitors to better understand the measurements taken on board, whether they concern air pollution, global warming, or the interactions between these two phenomena.

On November 7, 2025, the day before the first scientific flight open to the general public, the Ballon de Paris will inaugurate its new educational display system, billed as "unprecedented." Starting on November 7, 2025, the Ballon de Pariswill unveil three LED screens on its envelope that will display key global warming indicators provided by Copernicus, the European Union's Earth observation program, in real time. "This is the first time in France that such information has been made visible to the general public on this scale in an urban space," according to a press release.
