She had two loves, her country and Paris... but also Le Vésinet! This Sunday, November 30, 2025, Le Vésinet (Yvelines - 78) celebrates the 4th anniversary of the Pantheonization of Josephine Baker, the international icon who chose this quiet suburb as her refuge. From 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the Maison Joséphine Baker will open its doors for a free tribute open to all, organized by the Mairie du Vésinet, the Joséphine Baker Memorial Site, the Société d'Histoire du Vésinet, the Fondation pour le Vésinet, and the Musée Joséphine Baker et des Afro-Descendants de Paris.
For those who are new to her name, Josephine Baker is not just a music hall legend. A singer, dancer, and actress, she lit up stages around the world with her energy, charisma, and famous banana skirts. A committed activist, she was also a figure in the French Resistance during World War II and a fervent defender of civil rights, leaving behind a legacy as brilliant as her career.
In September 2026, a commemorative sculpture will be installed in the public green spaces in front of the villa, so that Josephine's presence will continue to swing in the heart of Le Vésinet.
An evening tribute to Josephine Baker, eternal star of music hall and history, to be held on November 30 in the Yvelines!
