Became the town of Avon's property in 1979, in the département de la Seine-et-Marne, the parc de Bel Ebat was bequeathed by Lola Dommange, the last owner of this private 8-hectare estate.
The Bel-Ébat Park, perched on the edge of the Fontainebleau Forest (before the railway line was built, which now separates the forest from the former Bel-Ébat estate), was once a hunting reserve, and the building at its center used to be a hunting lodge.
When the weather is nice, a guinguette also opens its doors, offering a food-and-drink menu, concerts and free performances!
From now on, the park is open to the general public, and from time to time the long-eared residents of the association Avon'Ânes go out to graze, to everyone's delight. Visitors can get up close and even pet them (under the supervision of association members). In fact, the donkeys live year-round within Bel-Ébat Park: if you’d like to hike with them (reservation required) or simply observe them, that’s possible too. Bicycles and dogs are not allowed inside the park, which is open daily all year round, with opening hours that vary by season.
