The Journées des Plantes et Art du Jardin move on from Château de Jossigny, currently under renovation, and relocate instead to the Château de Ferrières in Seine-et-Marne, on 10 and 11 October 2026. The 132-hectare historic park avenues, designed by English architect and landscape designer Joseph Paxton for Baron James de Rothschild, will welcome about a hundred exhibitors, nurserymen, horticulturists and specialists in rare plants from across France, for this autumn edition.
Inside the château, artisans and creators of the garden arts will enrich the offering with their craft: rare objects, noble materials, unique creations... There will be talks and guided tours of the park, beneath its centuries-old trees, that will punctuate the two days, the ideal way to discover this exceptional heritage, built between 1855 and 1859 and grandly inaugurated by Napoleon III, regarded as the most luxurious château of the 19th century.
Many activities, demonstrations and hands-on workshops are also on the agenda: pruning fruit trees by expert nursery professionals, an introduction to jardinage for younger audiences, the creation of a terrarium, a floral art workshop, repotting techniques and the making of autumn planters, a slate-cutting workshop, etc.
This is the tenth autumn edition of the event to be held here, and it's no coincidence—the château was designed to reach its autumn peak. Every tree species was chosen for the color of its foliage, and the paths laid out so that October light can shine its brightest there!
