Superfine, the dive bar in place of the Motel

A mythical bar in the 11th arrondissement, and a mecca for the indie scene for 18 years, which brought Feu! Chatterton and Clara Luciani to light, the Motel is now closed. The new dive bar, Superfine, will open its doors in mid-October 2025. But what exactly is a dive bar?

In the U.S., dive bars are the neighborhood bars par excellence, at once popular rads and eclectic venues, accessible to all. It's in this spirit that Superfine takes up residence in the Motel's slippers, not without taking the time to transform the space from floor to ceiling.

Gone are the heavy velvet curtains, replaced by large bay windows, a see-through kitchen and 110m2 of floor space to enjoy from aperitif to late night. Open Wednesday to Sunday from 4pm to 2am, Superfine is the brainchild of a quartet of front-runners familiar with Parisian daytime and nightlife: the duo Vincent Pinceloup (head of Monsieur Antoine bar) and Etienne Gatti, joined by Delphine Laguerre in the kitchen (ex-founder of Kern and Sando Club) and Raphaël Blanc at the bar (ex-chef barman with the Ducasse group).

In the glasses, a wide choice of beverages, including cocktails made from homemade decoctions and fermentations, mocktails, beers with character on draught, others in cans, and a natural wine list. On the culinary side, there's plenty of quality street food : vegetarian burger with eggplant katsu and miso ketchup, crispy Po'Boy, sausage dog with Guinness gravy... to be devoured to the sound of DJ sets!
