Yann Menguy, who you may have seen in "Qui sera le prochain grand pâtissier" or at the Michalak Masterclass, has opened his own pastry shop in the 18th district. Between a pastry shop and a coffee shop, the place is friendly and greedy. On the menu, original, seasonal pastries, chocolate, spreads, mueslis but also homemade churned butter in different flavors.

Does Yann Menguy 's face ring a bell? You've probably drooled over his superb creations on"Who will be the next best pastry chef". Christophe Michalak, aware of the young pastry chef's qualities, recruited him in 2013 for his Michalak Masterclass (his cooking workshop). Perhaps you have taken advantage of a class given by this talented pastry chef.

After a stint at Ladurée, Yann Menguy, like his counterpart Yann Couvreur, decided to jump ship and open his own pastry shop.

Opened since the end of September 2016 in the heart of Rue Marcadet, the concept was meant to be innovative. Indeed, Yann Manguy wanted to make a big difference between the French Haute Pâtisserie, with all its traditions, and the coffee shop and its legendary conviviality. A nice marriage for lovers of fine pastries and good coffee with a New York atmosphere.

For the setting, he called upon the young Nantes-based decorator Marguerite Quéinnec. Raw and clear concrete, old mirrors found at the Saint-Ouen flea market, a laboratory in full view, a small "chill" space to enjoy a meal on the spot, a home-like atmosphere with background music...

Yann Menguy is accompanied on the spot by another pastry chef and a barista.

On the pastry program, individual pastries to choose from a variety of 5 choices ranging from lemon yuzu at 4,50€ to honey at 6€. In addition, there are ephemeral seasonal pastries and a choice of 3 entremets to share between 4 and 6 people.

A little originality, the place launches into home-made barrato butter. Yes, barrato butter made on the spot, available in different flavors. Below is the vanilla version that seduced our guests.

Go for the vanilla pie mixing smoked Madagascar vanilla and pecan nuts. Opt for the irresistible chocolate mousse like at home or for the signature dessert named "La Goutte d'Or". A spiral-shaped dessert combining chocolate and buckwheat (soft chocolate cookie with buckwheat / roasted hazelnuts, creamy chocolate 64%, creamy milky whipped cream).

Unless"Le Miel " makes you eye. This dessert combining fromage blanc mousse, honey compote, banana and lime will delight your palate.

From morning to night... everyone can taste on the spot or take away chocolates, pastries and drinks. Yann Menguy proposes at the Goutte d'Or, chocolate bars filled with crunchy praline, almonds flower of salt 70% or hazelnuts flower of salt 46% but also Dulcey pecan flower of salt...

As for pastries: a flaky flower of salt brioche, a crunchy brioche filled with Gianduja, cakes (chocolate, Banana Bread Cinnamon), hazelnut and peanut spreads, but also maple syrup mueslis, raspberry mueslis, and cookies... for a breakfast or a snack break.

And to accompany these sweets, there is nothing better than tea and coffee to go or to take away. The barista offers a selection of organic teas from Bonthé, which has been in the neighborhood for 15 years. The coffee comes from CAFÉ LOMI, 2 steps away. You can choose between 2 specific ranges, which change every month in filter or espresso versions. Unless you opt for the fresh juices or the smooth hot chocolate.

How about a stroll to this new gourmet place?
