The Hotel Prince de Conti is the latest secret find on Paris's hotel scene, nestled right in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Just a stone's throw from the Hôtel de la Monnaie, the Pont Neuf, and the Institut de France, this boutique hotel immerses guests in a neighborhood rich with history, closely tied to the cultural and theatrical boom of Paris in the 17th century.
Located on the site of the former Hôtel de Conti, a residence of a renowned princely family and a notable patron of Molière, this establishment aims to immerse guests in the spirit of the Grand Siècle. It offers a modern interpretation of the Parisian hôtel particulier, blending historical charm with contemporary style. The Prince de Conti presents itself as a cozy, intimate space, conceived as a small theater—a nod to the festive gatherings and entertainments that once animated the neighborhood.
The decor was entrusted to Éric Allart, an interior architect, decorator, and antique dealer. He has created a reimagined baroque universe, blending 17th-century references with bold colors and more modern touches. In the lobby, instead of a traditional reception desk, there's an antique table—this marks the first step into an ambiance that feels both homely and theatrically styled. Wood paneling, a fireplace, a painted ceiling with trompe-l'œil effects, and textiles craft a setting where historic motifs and more contemporary inspirations interact seamlessly.
The hotel also features a curated art collection spanning from the 17th century to contemporary works, which is designed to grow over time. Highlights include vintage engravings of the Hôtel de la Monnaie, a historical portrait, and an original edition of Molière’s works from the period, available for viewing in the hotel’s library.
On the accommodation front, the Hôtel Prince de Conti offers 23 rooms and suites, ranging from superior and deluxe rooms to elegant suites, including two duplex suites designed as true micro-apartments. Each space has its own distinctive personality, blending antique-inspired furniture, custom-made pieces, and fabrics adorned with botanical or baroque patterns, all highlighted by contemporary touches. Some rooms, particularly those on the upper floors, feature spacious layouts and stunning views of the Institut de France and the Hôtel de la Monnaie.
On the ground floor, a lush courtyard, conceived as a contemporary grove by landscape architect Caroline Vandervort, extends the spirit of the hidden gardens of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Three rooms offer direct access to this green space, while a suite features a terrace overlooking the courtyard. A new address to watch closely, situated in the heart of Paris’s Left Bank.
