You are certainly familiar with this Cantonese specialty, dim sum, these small raviolis stuffed according to the inspiration of the chefs! We can say that those who work in the various Parisian addresses of Yoom, do not lack imagination. We tested it during a lunch and we were thrilled by the taste, the originality, but also the decoration and the welcome! Small debriefing!

Those who don't know this Cantonese specialty, Dim Sum, a kind of stuffed turnovers, should raise their finger! We had the chance to test the new address of Yoom, rue des Dames, and we were delighted! Indeed, this new place succeeds rue des Martyrs and Saint Germain des Prés, not to mention the corners at Galeries Lafayette and Maison de la Chine.

Its 2 founders, Benoît Guilbeau and Mikaël Petrossian, started the adventure 7 years ago and have traveled a lot in Hong Kong of course, but also in London and other countries to see what was the best in the field. Because they did not want to offer us basic Dim Sum but original recipes full of flavors. It is true that personally, I have often eaten dim sum without much flavor, with a thick and indigestible paste. With this new address, Benoit and Mikaël continue to develop their creativity, and this at different points of view.

Indeed, let's start with the place which has a very marked and warm decoration. Wallpapers on the wall, pretty lamps, Chinese objects and an exclusive tableware as colorful as pretty! We feel quite quickly at ease, in this space with the paces of a small cosy canteen. Once installed, Philippe, the person in charge of the place is very attentive to your needs, with very good advice and a great kindness. It is rare enough to note it!

It's all very nice, you might say, but what about the kitchen? Philippe had concocted a little mix for us and we were not disappointed. Among the dim sum dishes on the menu you have the beef dim sum with satay sauce, the chicken dim sum pad thai style, the chicken "lion head" dumpling with red curry and coriander sauce or the Har Gau with wild shrimps... But also grilled Dim Sum like the chicken ravioli with lemongrass or the Pekingese ravioli with pork. Various side dishes such as the steamed rice basket with vegetables but also the Udon noodles with peanut sauce. Soups and salad are also part of the meal. And the highlight of the meal, the dessert! We know that they don't have a very important place in the Asian cuisine, but here, we find the Dim Sum but in a sweet way. We tasted and we succumbed to the grilled Dim Sum with apples and its caramel sauce, and very special mention to the Tang Yuan (glutinous rice ball with black sesame served in a coconut milk and ginger soup). A great moment of pleasure!

There are also lunch menus during the week only:

  • The Tiger's menu (15€)

Assortment of steamed Dim Sum (6 pieces)
Steamed rice with sautéed vegetables or satay and tofu soup

  • Heron's menu (13€)

Large satay soup with udon noodles and shrimp ravioli
Dim Sum with shrimps in curry sauce (3 pieces)

And other menus like the Dragon Menu (26€) and the Peacock Menu (21€).

In short, you will have understood, we really had a crush on this cuisine full of flavors. The Dim Sum are made with a thin dough which leaves all the place and the taste to the fillings, worked by hand. The recipes are original. Without forgetting the very pleasant setting, not to sulk our pleasure!
To be tested urgently!
