Alluma is the name of a new bistrot d'auteur that has just opened in Paris's 11th arrondissement. Chef Tal Liran offers delicious, affordable Mediterranean cuisine. Rich in flavour, you'll love his dishes, where fresh produce and creativity are the order of the day.

We're off to discover restaurant Alluma, located in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, a Mediterranean bistro d'auteur that's sure to please. This address is the brainchild of chef Liran Tal, who wanted to create a place where Levantine flavors and French gastronomy blend harmoniously. On the menu, quality bistronomic cuisine that will delight gourmets.

On arrival, you discover a bright, uncluttered dining room that combines elegance and conviviality. High black wicker chairs, embossed white walls and green banquettes form the decor of this modern venue.

The Israeli chef offers a mix of local and international dishes, blending Mediterranean flavours, the refinement of French gastronomy and the boldness of Japanese and Scandinavian cuisine. Originally from Tel Aviv, this self-taught chef cut his teeth in Paris at Belagan au Dersou before becoming the official chef to the Israeli ambassador to France. The desire to create his own restaurant never left him. So, with his wife Noa, he launched Alluma, a project they had been thinking about for several years.

From the open-plan kitchen, where you can even sit back and watch the chef officiate before your very eyes, you can smell the fragrance of the Orient. The powerful flavors of zaatar and cardamom promise a beautiful voyage. The plates, both technical and creative, reveal a veritable interplay of flavors and textures. We love the freshness of the seasonal produce and the beautiful combinations.

Alluma offers a well-balanced, affordable menu at €25 for lunch, a 4-course meal that we warmly recommend for an affordable treat. In the evening, a more elaborate 6-course menu is offered at 55€. Note that the lunch menu changes every week, while the dinner menu changes every 6 weeks.

On our visit, we were treated to an amuse bouche of lahoh bread, garnished with parsnips and dill. We continued with a delicious golden cauliflower with Amba yoghurt and fresh herbs, a superb discovery accompanied by a good homemade foccacia.

We then continued with gnocchi à la parisienne in a beef shank version for carnivores, and chard and parmesan espuma for vegetarians. All meltingly soft.
