The beer industry keeps on delighting more and more taste buds. With events devoted to it such as the Paris Beer Week or the Mondial de la Bière, places devoted to this beverage are increasing in the French capital. We can obviously think about the Demory Paris addresses, as well as La Fine Mousse or Bar Fondamental without forgetting Brussels Beer Project.
It’s in March 2018 that BBP Pigalle – for friends – open. A year later, Brussels Beer Project has already its second Parisian table nestled in the Canal St-Martin area.
This 100% craft and participative Belgian brewery bar, BBP Canal is the new place of life both design and friendly with comfortable bench seats and pillows, its multicolor ceiling, its large and green terrace that gives into a rather quiet street, its quality food offering without forgetting a wonderful selection of beers.
On the menu? Over 20 draft beers including 5 beers available all year round: Delta, Ipa, Grosse Bertha, Babylone, Jungle Joy and Wunder Lager. BBP Canal enjoys 26 beer taps which is 5 taps more than BBP Pigalle. Beer fans will also discover several temporary creations as well as some “guest” beers from all over the world. On average, a demi costs €4.5 and the pint €8.
We went for the Black Swan, a stout as strong as a Guinness, very tasty, original and fruity with a nice taste of blackberry.
But if you don’t know where to start, there’s always someone likely to help you because at BBP Canal, they know their products.
And to have a bite, BBP Canal provides a lunch offer especially with the brunch set menu served every day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
For €20, you can have a main course and a hot drink, for €22 you have an additional glass of fruit juice (from Maison Borderline) and for €25 you can have a beer instead of a juice.
We better say it now, dishes for the brunch offer are very hearty. Nonetheless, on the lunch menu, you have some healthier options (poke bowl, avocado toast, club sandwich…)
We tried the Ardennes chicken waffle with chicken, potato rösti, bacon, organic oeuf parfait, cheese and herb cream and the Sailor de Nordzee a semi-cooked salmon steak put on a potato rösti, guacamole, sand shrimps and organic oeuf parfait. It’s tasty and appetizing, yet very rich because the waffle is made of potatoes. Luckily, this dish is served with a side of young sprout salad, pomegranate and cherry tomatoes.
Bread and desserts (cakes, cookies…) come from the Boulangerie Sain. Despite very hearty plates, we have had some small pancakes for dessert. They are not very big, and it’s perfect for a sweet note at the end of the meal.
At dinner time, the food menu provides other recipes – such as street food – from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Alcohol abuse is bad for your health, please drink responsibly.
