DEFINITELY CLOSED - A strange address has arrived at 25, rue Victor Massé, Pigalle. The mysterious candlelit storefront attracts curious glances from passers-by. A peek through the window reveals a subdued counter behind which a bartender is busy. We push open the door and our curiosity is immediately rewarded. We now find ourselves at Yagō, an intimate and unusual bar that is the standard-bearer of Pigalle's charm.
As soon as you step inside, you're immediately charmed by this new spot, the second address of Monkey. An illuminated pink marble counter, rows of spirits stretching under terracotta-colored arcades, and even a pole dance bar surrounded by a golden mosaic... that's the first atmosphere Yagō offers us.
We're then invited to branch off to the left to discover the boudoir-style salon, in a swirl of velvets, tapestries and cushions. It's almost like being in a movie, in the heart of a Belle Epoque brothel. Here we find everything that makes Pigalle so charming, a district that is both trendy and sultry, and which fascinates us.
The bar is busy shaking up new cocktails that evolve with the seasons. Some are inspired by well-known recipes, but revisited with exotic flavors. We discover their own version of the Cosmopolitan, with vodka infused with Bissap & Combawa, yuzu and pomegranate juice. We also like the gin infused with jasmine, pear juice, lemon, sugar syrup and champagne, lighter than the previous one.
Matcha lovers will be delighted by a creation that honors their favorite tea with whisky, honey and yuzu, a must-try. Finally, another cocktail not to be missed is one based on White Rum, Umeshu (plum liqueur) and plum juice: very fruity and gourmet, it should delight sweet tooths.
To accompany these refined creations, Yagō invites us to sample Nikkei cuisine based on raw fish. This may come as a surprise to some, but you'll find that the cocktails go very well with the various dishes. The Toro tuna sashimi with spicy miso is just the right amount of spice, so that it's even suitable for those who aren't too used to spicy flavors, and the fish literally melts in your mouth. We also love the torched sea bream and aji limòn sashimi, which seduced us with its pep and lightly grilled, crispy flavors. Whatever the case, we recommend that you trust Yagō to think outside the box.
That would have been enough to make Yagō a favorite spot in our eyes. But the bar prefers to take the concept one step further. Do you remember the pole dancing section at the entrance? Well, if you'd like to try your hand at it, or demonstrate your talent, you're welcome to use it! And that's not all, as the place also vibrates to the rhythm of DJ sets, while burlesque evenings and drag-queen shows follow one another at weekends. As you can see, this is the place to be for a perfect evening out in Pigalle!

Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
