Opened in 2021 in the Marais, Elles Bar is a lesbian and queer bar that has become a rallying point for those seeking a festive, open, and welcoming space in the heart of Paris. It sits at 12 Rue du Plâtre, in this iconic district of LGBTQIA+ nights, and that’s no accident!
Behind its façade, the venue picks up the thread of a history already steeped in significance. At this very spot, prior to its arrival, regulars knew the Village, the very first gay bar in the Marais, opened in the 1970s. A place that remains alive in the memories of the Parisian queer life.
When she opened this new spot in 2021, the owner of Elles Bar, Marie, wanted to offer a bar conceived first for the lesbian, bisexual and queer women, without making it a closed space to other profiles of the LGBTQIA+ community. Here, there’s no in-crowd mentality!
Inside, the vibe is intentionally simple and warm. People come here for a drink, to catch up with friends, to attend a concert, to take part in a karaoké, or simply to enjoy an evening where you don’t have to justify yourself. Baby-foot, community aperitifs, small events and themed nights have helped establish this neighborhood bar atmosphere, far from the impersonal big clubs.
