You already knew Popine Neapolitan pizzas including the traditional margherita for €5 only for lunch over the week, but now, you have to discover their cocktails! To do so, head to Aimer, the latest cocktail bar set a stone’s throw from Popine Ménilmontant by the same group of jolly chaps.
Inside, laid-back atmosphere and good music, or outside on the wide terrace open on to the boulevard and where you are sure to have a good atmosphere, have a seat and enjoy a drink.
To put Aimer bartenders’ – trained by the Experimental Group – shaking skills to the test, we went for two long drinks, the Tu vuo’ fa l’Americano (€11), slightly bitter and with hints of coffee with Campari and sherry blend, and the Amandier (€10) based on Cachaça, roasted pineapple for the sweet touch, Espelette pepper and lemon.
Coming up, the Un Indien à Belleville (€12) with vodka, carrot, Indian spices and egg white for the foam, a very scented cocktail we really appreciated, and a Coquine (€11), more delicate with blanche d’Armagnac, rhubarb, pickled strawberry and vermouth dry.
Although very classic at first sight with vodka, cucumber, mint and dill, the Martine en Grèce cocktail (€10) comes up more original than it seems twisted with a surprising Mastiha liqueur, a natural Greek resin and slightly sour whey.
Note Aimer also serves a short snack menu to pair your drinks: olives, homemade hummus, burrata, roasted cauliflower and Gascon black pudding empanadas likely to satisfy your appetite unless you would rather walk a few steps and enjoy a pizza by Popine!
