A quiet coffee shop with book galore… how does it sound? Run, do not walk, to the Used Book Café, this vintage tearoom making you feel at ease and want to stay for hours. And for good reason, the place is a genuine library from floor to bottom. It has it all to delight the bookworm in you.
Set across an inner courtyard featuring a lovely Fiat Mini, the Used Book Café enjoys a cozy and soft part, and a brighter corner, giving access to the Merci fair-trade concept store.
On the menu, fresh fruit juices and hot drinks such as lattes, chai, hot cocoas, detox herbal teas. We went for the daily special latte based on beetroot. We saw life through rose-tinted spectacles that day. But you can get more classic or plant-based version for an extra 50 cents.
All day long, from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., toasts, lemon cakes, tartes tatin, carrot cakes and crumbles or chocolate cakes are served. For lunch – served between 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. – you have the daily’s soup, soft-boiled eggs, beautiful and indulging salads, quiche and savory pies. Note the menu is homemade and vegetarian only.
As for second-hand books, it has it all, old books or recent releases. And if you fall in love with a book and want to purchase it to finish it at home, they are available on sale from €2 to €20.
In the evening, the café transforms into a cocktail bar!
